SKlauncher

SKlauncher is an alternative launcher for Minecraft. It comes with various features, which make it more convenient. One advantage is the possibility of creating profiles, which gives you the possibility of having different versions of Minecraft ready to go. For example, you can have a heavily modded game and an unaltered game at the same time. This way, you don't have to bother installing and uninstalling any mods.

The application is free and it is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It comes as a single executable, which you can launch right away, so you don't have to go through an installation process. The hardware requirements are modest and you don't have to install any additional tools.

In terms of appearance, SKlauncher looks like the original Minecraft launcher, but it has some differences. The interface has some additional tabs, on which you can find a log and a profile editor. The application lets you switch between different profiles and you can even have multiple copies of the game and run them with the same launcher.

SKlauncher places a good amount of options at your disposal when it comes to creating profiles. You can specify a different game directory, a default resolution and make other fine tweaks. If you have two or more profiles, you can switch between them through a drop menu, which is present at all times on the interface, regardless of what tab you have selected. As a result, if you wish to play Minecraft in a certain way, you only need to select a profile and hit the large Play button, in the bottom center of the interface.

Running Minecraft with SKlauncher is much more convenient, thanks to its flexibility.
